Like the quote above suggests, it is paramount that women nurture themselves first before they nurture others. You cannot give from a cup that is empty and pouring all of our energy and love out, while not tending to our own needs, means there is eventually nothing left to give.
Infertility is such a crippling condition for so many women and as I struggled with the condition myself (with endometriosis specifically) I really empathise with women who battle to conceive.
I have worked with many women in this regard and the first step is always to heal oneself. I have created a number of fertility affirmations and meditations to use on the healing path towards motherhood and will share some of my favourite, here, along with some tips. As always, when using affirmations, repeat them either aloud or in your mind, to yourself throughout the day as often as you can and try to really feel and believe what you are saying. Adding visualisation to the process will also increase the energy there and speed up manifestation.
1) My reproductive organs work in perfect harmony with my body, allowing me to conceive a baby easily.
=> A healthy body weight is best for fertility. If you are under or overweight, start a healthy eating and exercise plan today.
=> Eat foods such as nuts, avocado, oily fish, fresh fruit, high fibre foods, healthy protein, fresh green leafy vegetables and drink plenty of water.
=> Both you and your partner should avoid processed food, alcohol and caffeine and if you are a smoker, try to stop.
2) I choose positive thoughts that nurture and support my life.
=> Today become aware of the thoughts in your head and the way you deal with the challenges of the day. Correct any negative thoughts or actions and choose only positive thoughts and images. This is a process that can take time, but self-awareness and mindful behaviour are key.
3) My body knows how to conceive a healthy baby.
=> Write this affirmation on a post-it note and stick it where you will see it.
=> Repeat this affirmation a few times throughout the day.
=> Trust things are working as they should - Go out and buy something small for your baby-to-be.
4) My mind is open to the flow of abundance in my life.
=> Visualise yourself completely relaxed, with a healthy baby growing inside you.
=> Make a list of 5 things right now that you are grateful for in your life.
=> Plant a tree in your garden.
=> Trust in this natural process and in Mother Nature and allow your pregnancy to take its course. Surrender to the process and to life!
5) I nurture myself, so that I may nurture a baby.
=> Reflect on the ways in your life, that you can feel nurtured.
=> Nurture yourself by resting often, spend time with friends, being pampered and eating healthily.
