Dum Spiro Spero

Dum Spiro Spero

I draw the curtains
on a different world
the one I once knew is lost
The light is soft
There is a strange, quiet that pervades the city
and all over the world
the silence and solitude continues
repeating itself
over and over again
in a strange pattern,
that is woven with fear
yet designed to heal.

When I pull back the curtains and look out
I see the sun in the sky
I hear the sounds of birds
distant voices,
music even.
We are not alone
even in our separateness
We are not apart
especially in our fear.

All is not lost dear ones
join invisible hands
Close your eyes and you’ll see
We forgot what it was to be living
We forgot what it was to truly connect
We turned our backs on God
but now, is our chance
to embrace All that is
and open our hearts and minds
to a new way of living
to breathe a new world into existence,
one that is kinder,
more aware
Where love is the pattern we repeat
Let it not be built only on words
Let our hope be made visible
Let our love be an action.

  • Dum Spiro Spero, is latin for 'While I breathe, I hope'
