"Happiness is a gift and the trick is not to expect it,
but to delight in it when it comes."
- Charles Dickens

When I experience it, this state of happiness, the emotion of being content within ones’s lot and grateful, always grateful, I grab it and hold it closely to my chest. I hold on to it, for I know from experience that happiness, like most experiences in life, is fleeting and even if we just get glimpses of it, it is something to cherish and understand is a gift.

Happiness is not a place we arrive at, it is not a destination, but part of the process of life, a work in progress, something that takes daily conscious action and even effort to attain and yet there are also those unexpected moments of happiness, usually in the simple things life offers up to us, that capture our hearts the most. Happiness, even  a temporary happiness, is a sign that heaven is real and it belongs to us, and we to it.
