“When you do not realize that you are one with the river,
or one with the universe, you have fear.
Whether it is separated into drops or not, water is water.
Our life and death are the same thing.
When we realize this fact, we have no fear of death anymore.”
- Shunryu Suzuki

In the western world, life is perceived as linear. It has a beginning when we are ferociously birthed into this world and inevitably, hopefully after a decent amount of time, a painless end. Many of us live in fear of death, of all good things coming to an end, so much so that we often do not allow ourselves to fully experience the moment and what life has to offer. This fear stems from a disconnection, from a belief in being separate from all that is and that when our physical form dies, there is nothing left.

From a spiritual perspective, when we realise that we are not separate from the Divine,  that the essence of us, is in fact the essence of everything, we no longer need to fear - not death, loss, being alone or any ending.

We are not separate from each other. Despite the huge overwhelming feeling of being alone and the fear of being abandoned that accompanies most souls in this life, we are in actual fact never alone. We are divinely guided and energetically connected to each other in a profound way. Separation is an illusion.

Do not be afraid of endings.
An ending is just a beginning we can not yet see. The two are connected in this dance of life and avoiding endings and the initial discomfort or pain of loss they may bring, simply results in holding on to ghosts. The past is the past - it is over. The ending allows us to walk the bridge into the new life, the new phase, the realm of endless possibilities that do exist if we are brave enough to step up and say ‘Yes!’ to life.

When you realise you are connected to the universe and the flow of life in such an intrinsic way, when you realise you are fully supported no matter what you do, you no longer need to fear. You can jump of that internal cliff and trust you will be held by invisible hands. You can take chances, risks, make braver choices and live fully, love unconditionally and experience life as it was meant to be lived.
